Homer Simpson’s favorite day of the year is back again–ok, fine, my favorite day too. It’s National Doughnut Day! And this year, go crazy kids. With an overwhelmingly large selection of spots to buy the fried-doughy goodness and new vegan, and gluten-free options popping up all over the city, please welcome (and say thank you to) the official Doughnut Map of NYC:
It shows you just where to get your sticky fingers on some treats and chances are, most will be serving up something special to honor the hol(e)y day. It is a holiday so you should absolutely treat yourself and stop at multiple locations–a day like today takes strategic planning so take a peek and be prepared.
And if you, like me, think there can never be too many places to pick up the literally-nothing-is-wrong-with it-because-it’s-essentially-a-fried-bagel, treat–you’re in luck. This Fall there’ll be one more to add to the map: Doughnut Plant, which currently cranks out flavors like Peanut Butter & Blackberry Jam, Matcha Green Tea, and Tres Leches, will be opening a new location across the East River this October. So get ready Flatbush, the hood is about to get (last one, I swear) a wHole lot more delicious. (Bowery Boogie)
